I found the idea of mini family photo books for children years ago. As a lover of regular photo books I knew this was something I wanted to make one day. I tucked it away as a “someday project” as we steadfastly waited for the day we’d have kiddos to enjoy it.
As often happens, being blessed with a small child puts such projects to the wayside, and I never got around to making it.
Until a few weeks ago! Josephine and I were sitting at our icon corner saying our prayers as usual. She has recently started repeating some of the names I say when we are praying for our family and friends–particularly if they are ones she knows well. This morning she repeated both “Jiddi” and “Papa”! This has never happened before. After our prayers were done I hastened to find pictures of both of them to show her. So grateful for this prompt to finally put the book together. I wanted her to have access to pictures of both her departed loved ones, as well as her family that gets to love on her here.
I gathered photos of our immediate family relatively quickly and using the Pinhole Press template was super easy. Within a week or so it arrived on our doorstep. Josephine loves when packages come to our house–whether or not they are for her because: packaging! This was an extra special day, since packages were for her: packaging AND a treasure to keep!
The book is lovely (Pinhole Press does an amazing job!) and I’m so happy I finally created it. It seems rather strange that our fathers have been gone so long that we don’t have any digital pictures of them, and instead have to scan them in. The quality is not as good, but it’s so very important and lovely to have pictures of them. Especially ones that are easily accessible for little Josephine to cuddle and kiss!
